Synplicity's
Amplify AccelArray Pro Software Qualified by Fujitsu
Amplify
AccelArray Pro Software Speeds Time-to-Market and Offers Optimal
Performance
SUNNYVALE, Calif.,
April 18, 2005 – Synplicity Inc. (Nasdaq: SYNP), a leading
provider of software for the design and verification of semiconductors,
today announced that the newest member of its Amplify family of
structured/platform ASIC products, Amplify® AccelArray™
Pro, has received full qualification from Fujitsu Limited (Fujitsu)
and Fujitsu Microelectronics America Inc. (FMA). Fujitsu and FMA
will recommend Amplify AccelArray Pro as the physical synthesis
solution for design and development of its AccelArray platform ASIC
devices upon production release of the product.
Since announcing
the joint development agreement in September 2004, Fujitsu and Synplicity
have worked closely to develop custom physical synthesis uniquely
targeting Fujitsu’s AccelArray platform ASICs. This customized
version of Synplicity’s software enables AccelArray customers
to obtain greater performance, improved densities and faster overall
timing closure. With this announcement, Synplicity has now received
qualification of its structured/platform ASIC physical synthesis
software tools from the three leading structured and platform ASIC
device suppliers: Fujitsu, LSI Logic, and NEC Electronics.
“In a relatively short amount of time, Synplicity has clearly
established itself as the EDA tool vendor of choice for the three
primary structured and platform ASIC suppliers,” said Andy
Haines, vice president of marketing, Synplicity. “Similar
to our joint development efforts with LSI Logic and NEC Electronics,
in working with Fujitsu, we were able to develop a high-performance,
high-capacity solution that is uniquely optimized for Fujitsu’s
AccelArray devices. We believe that our customized Amplify AccelArray
Pro software will provide AccelArray customers with a highly automated
and user-friendly floorplanning and physical synthesis solution
that allows them to obtain high-performance designs with extremely
fast design schedules.”
"Fujitsu
and Synplicity have worked extensively together to provide our customers
a comprehensive and fully integrated structured/platform ASIC solution,”
said Keith Horn, senior vice president sales and marketing, Fujitsu
Microelectronics America. “The solution combines the high
performance of our AccelArray architectures with highly tuned, custom
physical synthesis, analysis and floorplanning from Synplicity.
We are already seeing greatly accelerated timing closure and excellent
performance results using our Synplicity one-pass hand-off flow.
We are pleased to recommend Synplicity’s Amplify AccelArray
Pro to our AccelArray customers.”
The Amplify
AccelArray Pro software offers users a complete physical synthesis
design solution for AccelArray devices. Through its unique understanding
of the AccelArray architecture, the Amplify AccelArray Pro software
enables customers to maximize the performance, density and time-to-market
advantages of AccelArray devices.

Amplify
Family of Structured/Platform ASIC Products
Synplicity’s Amplify family is the only physical synthesis
solution that targets Fujitsu’s AccelArray and LSI Logic’s
RapidChip platform ASIC products, and NEC Electronics’ structured
ASIC architectures. The Amplify family of structured/platform ASIC
products are the only physical synthesis tools optimized for use
by front-end designers, providing the benefits of physical synthesis
without having to learn complex back-end processing tasks. The tools
allow a single pass hand-off to the structured/platform ASIC vendor.
At the time of first hand-off to the ASIC vendor, timing tightly
correlates with the final routed design, so it can be quickly closed
by the vendor without costly iterations between designer and vendor.
The products
directly target and understand each vendor’s unique structured/platform
ASIC and typically enable 15-20 percent better speed and area
improvements over conventional design flows, thereby bringing
results much closer to that of standard-cell ASICs. The tools
also solve the timing closure problem through the use of physical
synthesis techniques and patented SNAP™ technology that
ensures timing correlation and prevents signal integrity issues.
The tool delivers a legally placed netlist that abides by ASIC
vendor-specific design rules. The resulting benefits – high
performance, low cost and shorter time to market, with greater
schedule predictability – cannot
be provided by generic tools. This is one of the key reasons why
major structured/platform ASIC vendors have partnered with
Synplicity, to ensure that customized physical synthesis tools
are available for their architectures.
The Amplify
family of structured/platform ASIC synthesis products received
the DesignVision Award, which recognizes technologies, applications,
products and services judged to be the most unique and beneficial
to the industry. Synplicity’s innovative software
won in the ASIC and IC Design Tools category and was recognized
during DesignCon on February 1, 2005.
