Synplicity’s Structured/Platform ASIC Synthesis Products Win DesignVision Award
Amplify ISSP and Amplify RapidChip Software Recognized for Innovation, Uniqueness and Customer Benefits
SUNNYVALE, Calif., February 2, 2005 – Synplicity Inc. (Nasdaq: SYNP), a leading supplier of software for the design and verification of semiconductors, today announced its Amplify® family of structured/platform ASIC synthesis products has received the DesignVision Award, which recognizes technologies, applications, products and services judged to be the most unique and beneficial to the industry. Synplicity’s innovative Amplify ISSP and Amplify RapidChip software solutions won in the ASIC and IC Design Tools category and were recognized during an award ceremony held at the Santa Clara Convention Center, during DesignCon on February 1, 2005.
The International Engineering Consortium’s (IEC) inaugural DesignVision Award mirrors the rich tradition of the organization in recognizing innovative technologies, and recognizes companies for recent products and services that have added a new dimension to the electronic design industry. Entrants for this award were judged based on innovation, uniqueness, market impact, customer benefits and value to society.
“It is a true honor the International Engineering Consortium has selected our Amplify ISSP and Amplify RapidChip solutions to be recipients of its DesignVision Award,” said Andy Haines, vice president of marketing at Synplicity. “We believe receiving this award validates that Synplicity’s unique approach of delivering vendor-specific customized software solutions is being well received by our customers and the industry at large. Through our close relationships with our structured/platform ASIC partners, we’ve been able to develop customized physical synthesis solutions that can deliver unmatched quality of results and more predictable schedule performance, putting Synplicity in a unique position to be the EDA vendor of choice to serve the structured/platform ASIC market.”
Amplify Family of Structured/Platform ASIC Products
Synplicity’s Amplify RapidChip and Amplify ISSP software tools are physical floorplanning and synthesis solutions that uniquely target LSI Logic’s RapidChip platform ASIC and NEC Electronics’ ISSP structured ASIC architectures. The Amplify RapidChip and Amplify ISSP solutions are the result of more than two years of joint development between Synplicity and the respective silicon vendors.
The Amplify family of structured/platform ASIC products are customized design tools that directly target and understand each unique structured/platform ASIC and typically enable 15-20 percent better speed and area improvements over conventional design flows, thereby bringing results much closer to that of standard cell ASICs. The tools also solve the timing closure problem through the use of physical synthesis techniques that are tightly correlated to the final place and route timing and ensure the designer follows vendor-specific design rules that obviate the need for extensive signal integrity checking. The resulting benefits - high performance, low cost and shorter time-to-market with greater schedule predictability - cannot be provided by generic tools. This is one of the major reasons why major structured/platform ASIC vendors have partnered with Synplicity to ensure that customized physical synthesis tools are available for their architectures.
