Synplicity Announces Support for Actel’s Low-Cost ProASIC3 and ProASIC3E FPGAs
Synplicity to Provide Optimal Synthesis and Design Support for New Line of Flash-Based FPGAs Aimed at the Value-Based Market
SUNNYVALE, Calif., January 24, 2005 — Underscoring its strong partnerships with industry-leading silicon vendors, Synplicity Inc. (Nasdaq: SYNP), a leading supplier of software for the design and verification of semiconductors, today announced its FPGA synthesis software, Synplify® and Synplify Pro®, now provide optimized support for the new low-cost Actel ProASIC3 and ProASIC3E device families. With this announcement, Synplicity continues to provide designers with software tools that offer significant area and timing optimization benefits. The area savings customers can expect to see using Synplicity’s synthesis technology in the design of ProASIC3/E devices can often allow them to use a smaller, less costly device.
“Because Actel’s ProASIC3/E devices are specifically developed for the value-based, high-volume market, it is imperative that we are able to provide our customers with best-in-class tools capable of fully exploiting our significant cost advantage,” said Dennis Kish, vice president of marketing at Actel. “For this reason, we continue to rely on Synplicity’s true timing-driven synthesis technology to support our latest generation of devices with an unmatched reduction in area and cost, as well as superior quality of results.”
In addition to optimized area/cost reduction, Synplicity’s Synplify and Synplify Pro synthesis software support ProASIC3/E FPGAs with industry-leading quality of results (QoR) for timing performance and technical support. Algorithmic QoR enhancements in the Synplify software enable designers to increase productivity while optimizing the timing performance of their ProASIC3/E devices.
“Actel's new flash-based, low-cost, ProASIC3/E FPGAs are attracting customers that previously would not have considered FPGAs due to cost,” said Andy Haines, vice president of marketing at Synplicity. “The true timing-driven synthesis technology in our Synplify products allows designers to automatically optimize for area once their timing requirements have been met, making it an ideal match for customers using ProASIC3/E devices in a wide range of applications. We believe customers incorporating our design capability along with Actel’s ProASIC3/E devices will be able to achieve the highest possible performance goals.”
About Synplicity’s FPGA Synthesis Solutions
Synplicity’s Synplify software helps programmable logic designers rapidly achieve aggressive performance objectives. The Synplify software takes designs written in VHDL or Verilog as input, and compiles, optimizes and maps them into efficient, high-performance netlists for all leading CPLD and FPGA devices. The Synplify Pro software offers high quality of results and fast runtimes along with an expanded feature set optimized to increase performance and productivity for today’s complex programmable devices.
