SYNPLICITY TO HIGHLIGHT SUPPORT OF STRUCTURED ASIC MARKET AT DAC 2003

Company to Host Structured ASIC Microbrew Party with Key Partners

SUNNYVALE, Calif., May 27, 2003 — Synplicity Inc. (Nasdaq: SYNP), a leading supplier of software for the design and verification of semiconductors, today announced it will showcase its support strategy for the emerging structured ASIC market at this year’s Design Automation Conference (DAC) in Anaheim, Calif. Synplicity aims to position itself as the primary implementation tool supplier for the structured ASIC market by working with key vendors such as AMI Semiconductor, Chip Express, Fujitsu, Lightspeed Semiconductor and NEC Electronics to deliver optimized synthesis software for the design of high-performance, high-capacity structured ASIC solutions, all of whom have endorsed Synplicity’s Synplify ASIC® software. Synplicity has also formed a joint partnership with LSI Logic to develop an ASIC physical synthesis tool optimized for LSI Logic’s RapidChip silicon platform. Synplicity and LSI Logic will provide demonstrations of the new Amplify® RapidChip™ software tool in Synplicity’s booth (#2131). The Amplify RapidChip software fits within Synplicity’s strategy to deliver a new class of physical synthesis technology for front-end designers targeting the cell-based ASIC, structured ASIC and platform ASIC markets (see today’s release titled “Synplicity Announces ASIC Physical Synthesis Software”). As an additional highlight, Synplicity will host a “Structured ASIC” microbrew party for all DAC attendees on Monday, June 2nd. The party is co-sponsored by partners AMI Semiconductor, ChipExpress, Lightspeed Semiconductor, LSI Logic and NEC Electronics.
